About Nethercott Funerals

We are family owned and run funeral directors based in Hertfordshire. Our head office is in Potters Bar with a branch at Radlett.

We conduct funerals throughout Hertfordshire, North London and beyond.

Our aim is to offer an unrivalled service of the highest standard.

Every funeral is different. Whether the funeral is religious, semi-religious or non-religious, we are guided by the people who come to us. We listen carefully to the bereaved and honour the wishes of the person who has died. This is probably our greatest strength.

Our profession is suited to a family company. We see working with the deceased and the bereaved as a vocation. Charles Nethercott founded Chas. A. Nethercott & Son Limited in 1911 in South Mymms on one very important principle namely; to provide a courteous, friendly and caring service to families and supporting them during their time of need. At Chas. A. Nethercott & Son Limited we are proud to hold true to these founding principles.

The family business has continued through four generations. Today the company is run by Victoria and Charlotte, the daughters of Chas Nethercott who retired in 2022 leaving the company in their safe hands. Victoria started with the company in 2008 and re-joined in January 2018, after leaving for a short time in 2011 to work for a funeral director on the south coast and later a crematoria and cemetery management company. Charlotte joined the company in September 2018 having worked and studied in other fields bringing a wealth of knowledge and a different perspective to ensure we provide the very best standard of service to the community. Together, Victoria and Charlotte bring extensive experience and fresh ideas to the company.

Women have been arranging funerals and taking care of families at Chas. A. Nethercott & Son Limited since the very start of the company. Alice, wife of Charles Nethercott, the founder, was a pioneering woman finding time to be a mother to five children, the local midwife and funeral director! Today, Victoria and Charlotte head a professional and dedicated team whilst, similar to Alice, find time to be mothers to their children and run their family business. We are very fortunate in that most of our staff stay with us for many years, from our drivers and bearers to our Funeral Directors, arrangers and Company Directors.

As well as arranging funerals the company also offers bereavement support through SAIFcare and a comprehensive range of memorials, enabling Chas. A. Nethercott & Son Limited to provide a complete service for families.

We are a founding member of the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (S.A.I.F.), a professional association, consisting of independent, family controlled funeral directors.
